Here we are again, another week bites the dust!
And dusty it is too, what with piles of sawdust from the cutting of the ballustrading that's suddenly enveloping the house and from the joinery work going on in the master ensuite, and the tile dust and offcuts from the tile cutting machine........not to mention the NOISE when they're all operating at once!!!
Just to update you on last week's post:
Yes, the floor tiling started and all the wall and floor tiles have arrived - so no chance of changing my mind now! I'm still playing around finalising designs for the walls, but you know me, I've got 'till the eleventh hour!!!
And I'm having loads of fun deciding which grout colours for which rooms - all monochrome of course!!!
The utility & cloakroom looks fabulous in my favourite black and white chequerboard pattern and the kitchen is in large white (and black speckled!) granite effect gloss tiles.
The lobby is gothic black marbelux in natural with a gloss border, and the downstairs ensuite bathroom is, wait for it...... - and the only deviation from the monochrome look - a rich matt aqua colour!
As for the fungi identification: they were Shaggy Ink Caps, a distinctive fungus, often seen in 'troops' in grassy places. It changes shape and blackens as it matures to heights up to 30cm.
Wow, another first for me!
The ballustrading is now wrapped around three sides of the house and looks amazing!
I actually managed to sit outside on the decking this weekend, in the sun, with a flask of coffee......
and dreamt of next summer, though hopefully I will have swapped the flask for a glass of wine by then!
In fact the lake shot in the album this week really reminds me (and sometimes I need reminding, believe me!) of why we're building our log home here; it's just so idyllic, a dream setting!
And this week's post wouldn't be complete without mentioning our empty nesters - a pair of adult Egyptian geese, looking forward to a Winter on their own and it's also nice to see that our rabbit population are complying with the sign in the pic (see the album)!!!
You normally find they blacken as they are smouldering!
